Kim McDermottroe is a costume and puppet designer/maker and illustrator. Her business Geener Lavelle specialises in costumes for museums, theatre and carnivals etc. She is a community artist facilitating workshops for people of all ages and abilities in schools, colleges, youth groups, dance companies and day centres for elderly and or people with disabilities.
Kim has mentored college students and people from the community to produce costumes and large-scale props for theatre, carnival events and in museum settings. She has trained to produce large scale willow sculptures and lantern making and facilitated workshops for this in the community. She does lots of illustration work such as producing illustrations for a low budget film, designing bespoke children’s activity sheets and museum resource packs and sells a range of limited edition Giclee prints.
