People First Mobility

Karen Sheppard is director of People First Mobility, which opened in Skegness in 2003, selling and hiring out mobility scooters, wheelchairs and walkers to local people and tourists. The company also has a warehouse outside the town, carrying out repairs to motorised equipment. It is now planning to launch an online store for mobility aids and accessories.

Karen took on full responsibility for the business in 2015, after the breakdown of her marriage, and continued to grow it in spite of living through mental health difficulties and a cancer diagnosis. She has since received several local and national business awards.
